SOULFUL SUNDAYS: MEET AMY CARTER, DIRECTOR OF ADVANCEMENT

Soulful Sundays, named for our Soul of the Lowcountry program which connects people to each other and to the land; and Sundays, the one day of the week we often come together around dinner tables to reconnect.  This blog series celebrates the people who do the work of the Land Trust and the people we do it for.

We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate the people who put the soul in our mission.

Soulful Sundays: Meet Amy Carter

Lowcountry Land Trust has named Amy Carter as Director of Advancement, a critical position to the success of the Land Trust. Carter will play a vital role in advancing the mission of the Land Trust while building, nurturing, and maintaining strong relationships with supporters and volunteers and growing the Land Trust’s business partnerships. “We are pleased to welcome Amy Carter to our team,” commented Ashley Demosthenes, President & CEO of Lowcountry Land Trust. “Her exceptional leadership and professional experience within the nonprofit sector will be a tremendous asset in the next phase of the Land Trust’s growth.”

A Lowcountry native, Carter received her undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston and later earned her Masters in Environmental Management from Duke University. She has seen firsthand the change and growth the Lowcountry has experienced over the years and this inspires her daily work. Carter comes to the Land Trust with 17 years of professional experience in conservation fundraising, marketing and grant management.

This new hire comes at a critical time for not only the organization but for the Lowcountry, as the need for conserving land is essential for the rapidly growing region. The Land Trust’s goal is to protect 150,000 acres by the end of 2019, which will not be possible without the continued support of the Lowcountry community.
