The Ebb and The Flow

Meet our summer interns!

Meet Tim our Outreach Intern:

Tim was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, the fourth of six children. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Resources in Wildlife. Following his undergraduate experience, he spent several years working in the food and beverage industry, moving to Charleston in the summer of 2012. Wanting to follow his passion of being involved in scientific communication and outreach, he enrolled at the College of Charleston and received a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Studies, which he completed in May 2018. During his time in the program, Tim worked as a sustainable education intern at the South Carolina Aquarium with his thesis work focusing on sustainable seafood practices in the food and beverage industry.

Outside the Office: Tim enjoys reading/writing, yoga, anything outdoors and hanging out with his cat, Squirrel.

Inside the Office: Tim will assist in planning, organizing and executing all summer outreach events for the Land Trust, including Soul of the Lowcountry programming and volunteer opportunities. He will help communicate the Land Trust’s mission to diverse and new audiences.

Meet Hannah our GIS & Conservation Planning Intern:

Hannah is a native Texan originally from the Houston area. Before moving to Charleston, she lived in College Station where she attended Texas A&M University for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. After earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography, Hannah’s interests in natural hazards, GIS, and human-environment interaction lead her to pursue a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning with a focus on Environmental Hazards Management. Hannah was first exposed to GIS during her time as an undergraduate and has since utilized the tool throughout graduate school and in her own research on the impacts of wetland development. She enjoys using such a powerful tool to visualize and communicate data. Hannah is excited to get to know Charleston and to experience the Lowcountry.

Outside the Office: Hannah enjoys cooking and eating tacos, spending time at the gym, adding to her collection of plants, and petting other people’s dogs.

Inside the Office: Hannah will be updating our stewardship GIS data during the summer. This will help our stewards to have a better understanding of the easement on each property as well as working on a few conservation planning initiatives and outreach projects over the summer.
