The final two weeks of the second Preserve the Angel Oak campaign were featured in The Island Connection on Friday. The story highlights the unanimous approval of $2.5 million from Charleston County Finance Committee (approved by the Charleston County Council on February 25), plans for the land once purchased and fundraising needs to purchase the remaining 18 acres.
LOLT Executive Director Elizabeth Hagood explains: “To grab the whole thing, the whole 35 acres, affords a whole new level of potential opportunities for the communities. If you combine that with the current nine acre city park where the Angel Oak resides right now, that’s 44 acres of open space protected.
The town of Kiawah has given $10,000 towards the second Preserve Angel Oak campaign.
