More than 100 guests joined the Land Trust and the Ambrose Family at their home on the banks of Adams Creek for a true farm-to-table supper this past Sunday. The Ambrose family, led by Babs and Pete, delivered a delicious sampling of the freshest tomato pie, cucumber salad, eggplant parmesan, as well as a bar-b-que pig all directly from their farm on Wadmalaw Island. Carriage Properties generously co-sponsored the event, making the evening possible.
The supper celebrated the success of the Angel Oak Preserve campaign and all proceeds will support the upcoming planning process for the nature preserve. In early 2014 the Lowcountry Open Land Trust finalized its acquisition of the 35.7 acres completing a circle of protection around the ancient Angel Oak Tree. Made possible through the generous donations of more than 12,000 individuals, businesses, foundations, county, state, and city governments, this effort will forever ensure the local treasure is protected from development.
Guests were greeted with a signature moonshine cocktail, courtesy of Firefly distillery, as they enjoyed the soothing sounds of the local sibling trio, Volcanoes in the Kitchen. What better way to celebrate the importance of protecting the Lowcountry’s irreplaceable waterways, scenic vistas, working farms and treasured assets than by coming together to enjoy a spectacular meal and sunset on the banks of historic Rockville. The Lowcountry Open Land Trust would like to thank everyone for joining us.
